About Women In Agriculture
Empowering Women. Transforming Agriculture.

What We Do
We create practical pathways for women to thrive in Queensland’s agricultural workforce by combining technology, training, and real-world experience.
We provide industry-relevant digital skills and agtech training, along with opportunities for workplace experience and trials, supported by resources to help women launch careers that integrate technology into modern farming practices.
Operating across Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, and Somerset Regions, this initiative addresses critical workforce shortages while creating inclusive employment pathways for women who have been underrepresented in the sector.
Why This Program Exists
Modern agriculture relies on technology at every level – from simple handheld tools and apps to complex data management systems, online accounting, cybersecurity, and automation. Technology is no longer confined to the office, it spans all areas of farming operations. No matter the role, technology is part of today’s agricultural practices.
Yet women currently represent only 35% of Australia’s agricultural workforce, and fewer than 23% in technical and coordination roles.
The Women in Agriculture project tackles both the industry’s skills shortage and systemic barriers to participation.

How We’re Making a Difference
Industry-Informed Training
Our training partners deliver practical digital skills through short courses: most just 2–3 hours online, studied at your own pace. Other options include 1-day Zoom sessions or 4–5 day classroom programs pending the course.
Real-World Experience
Successful graduates may access work placements and trial programs with agricultural employers, gaining hands-on experience to kickstart their careers.
Local Council Support
The Women in Agriculture project is proudly supported by the economic development teams of four regional councils, working together to strengthen workforce participation across South East Queensland.
